American WW2 Dog Tag Returned

It was late Saturday afternoon on the 08/08/15 and one of our club members  from Qld WW2 Relic Hunters started to dig a American Army trash heap and out came a  dog tag. The tag belong to a Sergeant from 186th Infantry Regiment of the 41st infantry division. This has a sad and happy end the Sergeant  was killed during the battle of Biak on  the June 16 1944. The Battle of Biak was part of the New Guinea campaign of World War II, fought between the United States Army and the Japanese Army from 27 May to 17 August 1944. It was part of General Douglas MacArthur's Southwest Pacific command's offensive drive to clear New Guinea in preparation for an invasion of the Philippines.

A bit more about the Sergeant  he was born on October 4 1915 in Barron County Wisconsin, USA also enlisted in the US Army on June 24 1941. With the help of Angelo's Angles WW2 Dog tag return project we able to track down  his Great niece  from Wisconsin and we ARE able to return to her a priceless family relic."
